The museum's historic vessels and boats, Sydney Heritage Fleet, are available for viewing by appointment at Rozelle Bay. 'Lady Hopetoun', 'Waratah', 'John Oxley', 'Boomerang', 'Kanangra', 'Gretel 11' are operational sea going vessels. The Heritage Boat collection (historic smaller boats) is available for inspection at Wharf 7, Pirrama Rd Pyrmont (near the Australian National Maritime Museum and Star City Casino.) These include 'The Child of the Bounty', 'Tom Thumb' and 'Yendys'.

Offering breathtaking views across Sydney Harbour, Sydney Observatory is Australia’s oldest observatory and one of the most significant sites in the nation’s scientific history. The Observatory was built in 1858 and was essential to ship navigation, meteorology and timekeeping as well as studying the unfamiliar stars of the Southern Hemisphere. In the 1880s Sydney Observatory gained international recognition when Government Astronomer Henry Chamberlain Russell took some of the first astronomical photographs in the world.

Sydney Harbour National Park protects a series of foreshore lands and islands in and around one of the worlds most beautiful harbours including: North Head, Manly to the Spit, Middle Head, Bradleys Head, the Harbour Islands, Neilsen Park, and South Head. Many of these once played a leading role in the protection of Sydney's residents from the threat of invasion from foreign fleets and infectious disease. When their value as defence sites faded in the decades after the second world war, conservation of the harbour foreshores was the driving force behind the formation of the innovative national park.

It is a place of many layers: from the archaeological remains of the colony's first Government House built in 1788 to the award-winning sculpture 'Edge of the Trees', interpreting the site of first contact between Aborigines and those arriving on the First Fleet.

Customs House

Customs House is built on the land of the traditional Indigenous owners, the Eora people, and is the site of the First Fleet landing. It is one of the most significant buildings in the history of European settlement in Australia. The historically and architecturally significant building has undergone a complete refurbishment and is home to a collection of unique exhibits. Customs Square, at the entrance to Customs House, is a piece of Australian history. Paving in the square depicts the original tidal zone as it was was at the time of the First Fleet landing prior to the construction of Circular Quay.

Step back in time with a visit to Timbertown Wauchope, where you can ride the steam train, experience the bullocky display, observe the timber craftsmen at work and smell the coals of the blacksmith. Set amongst 87 acres of natural forest, Timbertown is an entire village, re-created to demonstrate the struggles and achievements of Australia’s pioneers. Miniature railway rides run on the first and third Sundays of each month, and the paddle boats are fun for all ages. At the Earthcare Nursery you can view a large selection of rare and unusual plants, trees and shrubs.

Abercrombie House

Abercrombie House was built by James Stewart (c. 1870s). The 40 room historic mansion was originally the home of the Stewart family - Bathurst pioneers. It is now the home of the Morgan family who bought it in 1969 and have spent almost thirty years on a program of restoration and redecoration.

Age Of Fishes Museum

Imagine a world ruled by fish! Long before the dinosaurs the mighty rivers of the Central West teamed with bizarre ancient fishes - fish with armour shells, fish with lungs, and huge predators with jaws like crocodiles. Thousands of their fossils were found at Canowindra and give us a unique glimpse into life during the Devonian Period - the "Age Of Fishes". A chance discovery in 1956 revealed an extensive fossil bed dating from the Devonian Period. This 360 million year old formation contained the fossilised remains of over 3500 freshwater fish. Many were new to science. This unique fossil collection is now on public display in the township of Canowindra, only a short distance from the discovery location.
