Must Visit Wineries in the Hunter Valley

Must Visit Wineries in the Hunter Valley
Wine + holidays – is there any better combination? We think not! Leave the kids at home and spend a long weekend exploring some of the best wineries the Hunter Valley has to offer.
  1. Tulloch has been named Star Cellar Door by Gourmet Traveller Wine and has won the Cellar Door of the Year award twice - and it's easy to see why. They've been in the biz for 122 years but there's nothing fuddy duddy about their wines. You can taste a drop that's exclusive to the cellar door, including vermentino, sangiovese and zinfandel, and they even have a wine club that provides access to discounts and their 1895 Member Lounge. Our hot tip? Sign up before your trip and taste the benefits!

  2. Audrey Wilkinson is one of the oldest vineyards in Australia, and  they’ve certainly perfected their craft. Their Semillions are award winning and the cellar door has been rated by Gourmet Traveller Wine as one of the 10 best in Australia. Perched amongst the Brokenback Mountain Ranges, they also boast a pretty spectacular view.

  3. Bimbagen Estate isn’t just known for its wines, but also for its excellent restaurant, Esca. After all, you’ll need something to line your stomach! The winery building itself has been designed specifically to be able to capture the view from every angle, and you can also get a great view of the wine making operations themselves from viewing platforms surrounding the open plan facility.

  4. The founder of Thomas Wines, Andrew Thomas, has been named the Hunter Valley winemaker of the year twice, and there’s a good reason. Known for specialising in Semillions, they also host events at restaurants throughout the region.

  5. The Small Winemakers Centre is the perfect place to go to discover wines by growers who are too small to have their own cellar door. You might just find a new favourite, and you’ll be supporting over 15 winemakers who call the venue home.
  6. McGuigan Wines are a household name, having won the International Winemaker of the year 4 times. It’s family run, and there’s plenty of wine to choose from, all reasonably priced.
